Designation: Senior Policy Researcher And Task Manager

Dr Prabhakar SVRK is a task manager and senior policy researcher working on natural resources and ecosystem services at the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies. He has more than 15 years of experience in participatory research and development with national and international organisations such as the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics, International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center, United Nations Development Programme, and National Institute of Disaster Management. He obtained his PhD in field crop management from the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, in 2001. Subsequently, as a JSPS post-doctoral fellow at Kyoto University, he conducted research on climate change and its implications for disaster risk reduction in South and East Asia. Prabhakar works on a variety of topics including the incorporation of climate change adaptation strategies into development plans and policies, adaptation metrics, risk insurance, loss and damage, vulnerability assessment, and capacity building.
