Upasna Sharma

Introduction

Dr Upasna Sharma is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, IIT Delhi. She joined the department in January 2013. From December 2011 to December 2012, she was an Assistant Professor at the Department of Humanities and Social Science, IIT Madras. Prior to that she was a post-doctoral scholar at the International Institute of Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), Laxenburg, Austria from October 2009 to September 2011. Upasna holds a PhD from Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management, IIT Bombay.

Upasna’s research interests lie at the intersection of two domains - climate change and disaster risk reduction and management.  Her research focuses on questions related to measuring vulnerability, relationship between development and generic adaptive capacity, conceptualizing and operationalizing adaptive capacity to climate risk, adaptation financing under UNFCCC, assessment of impacts of natural hazards, science policy interactions and effect of governance and institutional features on risk management systems, among others.
