Joyashree Roy is a professor of economics at Jadavpur University and a national fellow at the Indian Council of Social Science Research. She has initiated and coordinated the global change programme and directs the Ryoichi Sasakawa young leaders fellowship fund at the university. Previously, she was a Ford Foundation postdoctoral fellow at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, USA. She was also a member of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s 2007 panel that won the Nobel Peace Prize and part of a team that has won the Prince Sultan bin Aziz International Prize for water. Roy has published more than 90 peer-reviewed articles and has authored and edited a number of books. Her research interests include the economics of climate change, modelling energy demand, economy-wide modelling exercises for deriving policy implications, water quality demand modelling, natural resource accounting, environmental services valuation, etc. She has worked extensively with the data of various developing countries.
